Rocking X-mas presents

Tak...czas pomyśleć o świątecznych prezentach. Znalezienie idealnego prezentu dla fana rocka nie być proste, zwłaszcza, jeżeli sam się do takich nie zaliczasz... Dlatego postanowiłam stworzyć listę rockowych prezentów, z których na pewno coś wybierzecie.
Yes...it's time to think about Christmas presents. Finding ideal presents for a rock fan might not be so easy (especially when you're not a rock fan...), that's why I decided to prepare a list of presents that should work.

1. Bilet na rockowy festiwal / Rock Festival Ticket.

2. Mastodon
Nie wiem, czy widzieliście zeszłoroczną świąteczną kolekcję Mastodon. Udowodnili, że możesz mieć rockowy świąteczny sweterek, który spodoba się Twojej babci.
I don't know if you saw last years collection of Christmas merch by Mastodon. They proved that you can have a rocking Holiday sweater that your grandma will like.

Motley Crue The Dirt

Great story of one of the biggest rock bands ever. I think I knew most of Motley Crew videos, but after finishing this book I had to go through it once again and you know what...? It will never be the same. There are some stories about girls joining the videos but also stories about how drunk everyone was during filming.
But I found also some new things, like this interview:
(women, hairspray, fire???)

For me it was very interesting to read about Mick Mars, how tough his life was, even when Motley Crue were on top. I wish there were more stories from his life.

Generally first part of this book is focused more on the band and music with a lot of stories about groupies... ;) and the second one on personal problems of Motley Crew guys. So you can find out how it was between Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson or how did Vince's daughter die...

I really appreciate the concept of this book. Every chapter is told by someone from Motley Crue or their management and it happens that the same story is told from different perspective.

It's so easy...

...and other lies is the title of my second favorite rock biography so far (Ozzy is still on the first place ;). Duff McKagan is definitely a rock star, but he also seems to be a very good writer. After finishing this book I was wondering, how is it possible, that so many stories about his early life, G'n'R era, his personal transformation and family could be told in such short biography. Well, there is no beating about the bush. Merciless truth about the real rock'n'roll life in the 80's and 90's wont let you feel bored while reading this book.
But what fascinates me the most is how incredibly intelligent Duff is. His willingness to educate, to help the others (e.g. Scott Weiland), to have a normal family and to leave all drugs an alcohol problems behind makes this book a very good story told by a very honest and mature guy.

 

Be like...Kurt Cobain

He's the quintessence of grunge. Unkempt appearance and rejection of all glam rock style rules. He usually looked like he didn't pay attention to what he's wearing and in my opinion he can be a great inspiration for "I don't care" days for all of us. Just please, don't overdo the sloppiness and try to keep your clothes clean ;)

Rock Biographies - "I Am Ozzy", Ozzy Osbourne

This is one of these books you can read many times and they will still make you laugh. It's easy to describe funny things in a funny way, but when it comes to Ozzy's childhood, I think it was far from "fun"... Nevertheless, he made me laugh describing his mom cooking or his first attempt to work and earn some money.
I am fan of Ozzy for years, but I knew him mostly as Black Sabbath member, so I learned a lot from this book, especially about his private life and habits. Looking on his life based on this book, my conclusion is, that without Sharon this biography wouldn't be even half as long as it is.

Summarizing, if you're looking for a very easy to read and funny story, this position should be on your "to read list". I would even recommend to give this book as a present to somebody who isn't Ozzy's fan, because after reading it he might become one ;) And if not, he will have a lot of fun at least.

Be like... Axl Rose

Some Rock Stars don't pay attention to what they wear and they always look amazing. And some of them have created an individual image, full of details, which is copied by many people. And I think Axl belongs to the second group. He's somewhere between classic "I don't care what I'm wearing" rock style and Glam Rock style. What I like about him is that it is easy to point out very characteristic details of his style. Let's see some pictures of him first (I know that you know who it is, but please):
